REBELS WITH CAUSES

Historically, woman has been educated to be a "good" girl, to abide and take everything that affects their lives without a single protest. And also, in every generation there have been "some women", who have not been able to accept imposed situations on them. Because, they thought another society, healthy system or culture was possible; far away from established parameters.

Therefore, from different fields we have references of ‘rebel women’, famous or not, who have driven with their strength and testimony, the path of the feminine.

That the case of this woman, PILAR SOLER, to whom now we pay tribute to commemorate a lifetime of social change and her fight for the women’s rights. EMILIA BOLINCHES, the journalist who has discovered PILAR life in his book PILAR SOLER : "REBEL WITH A CAUSE" , which was presented on October 17^th in VALENCIA (SPAIN).

According to the author, this book has been made ​​based on interviews conducted over two years to the currently elder activist; and also the result of the relationship with her. The book mentions the life of this woman, who despite difficulties (imprisonments and mistreatment), never stopped believing in other possibilities and different lifestyle.

Researching in this woman's life, I have focused my attention to many things, but mainly in the fact that an eighty-year-old woman is still with such activity, which many younger women could not follow.  Furthermore, her comments and ideas still vividly fresh.

But mostly it has been a personal discovery, since she has been a close woman, because we are from the same city, and I have found it now. This has made me think and realize that the guides sometimes are closer than we think; we just have to be vigilant to know how to “see".

So you can see for yourselves, I recommend you see this little film, which aired on the presentation of the book we have mentioned before. This little film clearly shows the spirit and strength of PILAR SOLER, during the interview.

Therefore, THANK YOU, to all women who have gone before us, famous or anonymous, who have been a rebel, discovered by others or not; but they have made their way and have contributed to our own path would be easier.  It’s time we act and be a reference to the following generations.
